Even though OpenR Link was released 3 years ago, Renault continues to work on Easy Link.

Renault has just begun the roll-out via Fota of a new software version for Branch 2: 283C33813R. This version has already been available in garages since the beginning of the year. This new version mainly brings new features for the 9-inch widescreen portrait versions: Android Auto and Carplay on a larger scale.

Until now, we’ve had black bars with no real purpose, which reduced the display area. Here’s a quick before-and-after comparison:

I have the impression that on Android Auto it’s no longer possible to have the audio or phone applications in full screen mode. The map is always on the top.

There are bound to be other small new features and bug fixes. If you see any, don’t hesitate to comment.

I’ve also noticed the following:

• More refined settings for managing the confidentiality of shared data.
• Shortcuts on home page under temperature for phone settings.
• New Widget for the home screen dedicated to Android Auto / Carplay.

Deployment will be via the car’s Fota, so be prepared in your cars to receive it but we’ll have to wait our turn.
