R-Link 1 is the multimedia system released in 2012 on the Clio IV and the ZoΓ©.
It is a 7-inch touchscreen equipped with a 2.3 version of Android custumized by TomTom.
On vehicles of larger sizes there was also a joystick between the central seats and a front of car radio. In my opinion, these R-Link 1 are the most pleasant to use because there are many shortcuts thanks to the keys that avoid having to make several clicks on the touch screen.
On the vehicles like the Kangoo or Master, there is no central joystick but only a front with a joystick.
The big news is the R-Link Store to buy applications. The arrival of the Coyote application is appreciated although as will be seen the integration is imperfect.Β like the Carminat TomTom Live, R-Link 1 has the Live services of notably HD traffic info that is incredibly accurate. This Live service also includes (in authorized countries except France) speed cameras.
R-Link Evolution is an evolution of the first version that brings a capacitive screen (instead of resistive) allowing to zoom using the pinch to zoom.
In 2017, Android auto appears allowing to use Google Maps but also the application Waze. Unlike the R-Link 2, there is no Apple technology. See this page for more information.
