Carplay: TomTom and Coyote now compatible

It was one of the big innovations of last year when Apple Carplay was opened to other navigation software to replace Apple Plan.

An opening that we find rather on the side of Google but that is not always possible with Android Auto (certainly it is possible with Waze but Waze belongs to Google….). Last year it was Google Maps and Waze who immediately broke into the breach (➡ read the news).

Here are two other companies coming with Carplay compatibility: TomTom and Coyote.

TomTom

TomTom therefore offers its mobile application “Go” which allows you to benefit from offline maps (downloaded to the device) but also from TomTom’s in-house traffic information which is very efficient. It should be noted that navigation is not free: 9€ for 6 months.

It should be noted that the updating of the maps is done via weekly updates of a few MB, whereas before it was necessary to re-download the entire map at each quarterly version.

We will notice a new display for the highway lanes which seem particularly efficient where competitors (Google Maps, Waze and Apple Plan) are a little out of control….

Coyote

Then we have Coyote who also makes its application compatible.
We therefore find the “danger zone” alert application coupled with navigation software. The interest and everything to have in a single application.

On the other hand, you will need to take out a “Premium” subscription to benefit from the Carplay function: 9.99€/month instead of 5.99€. To be forced to follow Apple’s guidelines it was not possible for Coyote to keep track of the route and future dangers on the right side of the screen.
